1st day: Lima

2nd day: Lima/Chiclayo


LIMA CITY TOUR (COLONIAL AND MODERN):

Guided visit through Lima's Historical Center: the Plaza Mayor (Main Square), the Government Palace, the Archbishop's Palace, the City Hall and old streets with colonial mansions and Moorish balconies. You will also visit the San Francisco Convent, which has the most magnificent collection of colonial art in America. The tour will continue through the most traditional residential areas of Lima, including San Isidro, Miraflores and LarcoMar, a shopping center of international thematic attractions which offers a spectacular panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean.
Transfer to the airport to take your flight to Chiclayo.

3rd day: Chiclayo


ROYAL TOMBS OF THE LORD OF SIPAN AND TUCUME COMPLEX:
Full day visit to The Royal tombs of Sipan Museum, a three floors building which architecture has been inspired in the old Pyramids of the Moche Culture. It has the most important objects from the Moche Culture such as the Sipan pieces. Afterwards, you will visit the Tucume complex, at the foot of La Raya hill, it is made up of 26 truncated pyramids (700-1,100 B.C). Finally, you will visit Huaca Rajada, the ancient mud brick burial platform where the fabulous tomb of the Lord of Sipan was discovered with gold and gemstones which have revealed a great amount of information about the old Moche culture. You will visit the local museum and diggings. Lunch included.

BRUNING MUSEUM:
You will be transfered to Lambayeque city, where you will visit the Bruning Museum, a very important museum in the north of Peru. It has collections of gold, silver and copper objects from different cultures that belongs to this region since 4,000 years ago, as well as Lord of Sipan treasures.

4th day: Chiclayo/Chahapoyas


In the morning you will depart from Chiclayo by private car, van or minibus with air conditioning. You will cross 4 different Peruvian departments: Lambayeque, south Piura, the North of Cajamarca and end in Amazonas; starting in the coast and arriving in the late afternoon in the cloud forest of Chachapoyas.

5th day: Chachapoyas


KUELAP FORTRESS:

After breakfast you will visit Kuelap, a spectacular pre-Inca walled city hidden atop a precipitous mountain. Although Kuelap was discovered 60 years before Machu Picchu, it is not as well-known to the outside world. Nevertheless recent amazing discoveries in nearby areas that relate to Kuelap and to its history have captured the attention of archaeologists, international magazines and film companies. Box Lunch. Following your visit to Kuelap, you will return to Chillo for the night.

6th day: Chachapoyas/Leymebamba


After breakfast you will enjoy an excursion by horse to visit the colorful funeral buildings of Revash perched on a ledge up high on a cliff. They overlook a valley and tributary of the Utcubamba, near the town of Santo Tomas. The Cliff walls at Revash are decorated with geometric designs and figures of camelids. Some of the tombs are decorated with T and a cross-shaped niches. Box Lunch. Then you will continue to town of Leymebamba to visit an amazing collection of well preserved pre-inca mummies discovered in the Laguna de los Condores.

7th day: Leymebamba/Cajamarca


Early in the morning you will drive to Cajamarca, crossing two cordilleras and several different habitats, such as cloud forest, agricultural land, desert-like areas and the Marañon Canyon. The journey from Leymebamba to Cajamarca, by way of the Maranon Canyon, is one of Peru's most spectacular drives. The Marañon River forms one of the world's deepest canyons, and you will descend through different ecosystems from over 10,000 feet in altitude to the town of Balsas at 4,000 ft. After crossing the river you then ascend back through the various habitats to nearly 10,000 ft above sea level. Box lunch on way.

8th day: Cajamarca


VENTANILLAS DE OTUZCO, CAJAMARCA CITY TOUR:

Morning light trek through the Cajamarca countryside to see local people in their daily activities. Then we visit the Ventanillas de Otuzco, a pre-Inca cemetery that features a gallery of secondary burial niches. After lunch exploration of the main points of the city: Main Square, the Cathedral and the 17th Century San Francisco church, which houses the Museum of Religious Art. Continue on to the Ransom; which Atahualpa, the last Inca emperor, filled once with gold and twice with silver so as to obtain his freedom in 1532. Finally we will take a delicious cup of coffee at local cafeteria. Return to hotel.

9th day: Cajamarca


CUMBEMAYO AND INCA'S HOT SPRING:

After your breakfast, in the morning you will visit Cumbemayo Complex and visit the Stone Forest, the Sanctuary, the aqueduct and the Sacrifice Stone. Then, visit to the Inca's Hot Spring, one of the most important places of the north of Peru. Lunch. In the afternoon you will haver time for visit whatever you want by your own.

10th day: Cajamarca/Trujillo


You will depart Cajamarca in the morning via private car/bus for the overland journey down through the mountains to Trujillo. Lunch at Hacienda Paija where you will have a Peruvian Paso Horse Show. Visit El Brujo Complex, on the right margin of the Chicama valley, and only 60 minutes from Trujillo. It is the most important complex currently under full research. A huge pyramid; 30 meters high and over 15 centuries old is the complex's most notable feature. Relief portraying the life of Mochica rulers have been discovered on its walls. It is made up of three archaeological sites: Cao, Partida and Prieta.

11th day: Trujillo


After breakfast visit the city, the local museum and you will visit Chan Chan, the mud city of the Chimu culture. Visit to Huaca Dragon. You will also visit a beautiful beach in the neighbourhood of Huanchaco.

12th day: Trujillo/Lima


After breakfast, you will visit the Sun and Moon temple. This was the religious and cultural center of Moche civilizations. Recent excavations show beautiful designs and the colors of the walls. At the end of the afternoon you will be transferred to the airport to take your flight to Lima.

THE ARCHEOLOGY, ANTHROPOLOGY AND HISTORY OF PERU MUSEUM AND LARCO HERRERA MUSEUM:
Visit to the Archaeology, Anthropology and History of Peru Museum , that integrates the whole Peruvian archaeological and historic process. Afterwards, visit the Rafael Larco Herrera Museum. This museum contains the world's largest private collection of pre-Columbian art pieces in gold, silver, and semiprecious stones. The famous erotic ceramic collection shows that Peru's ancient artists were surprisingly explicit and uninhibited.

15th day: Arequipa


CITY TOUR AND SANTA CATALINA CONVENT:
You will take 3 hours and a half tour at the city of Arequipa, visiting the main square (Plaza de Armas), the Cathedral, the Jesuit church of La Compañia, Santa Catalina Convent and its religious cloisters built in XVI century closed to the public for almost 400 years until 1970, it is still home to a few cloistered nuns. The tour continues to the Church and Square of San Francisco and Yanahuara area with its famous viewpoint from where it is possible to have a complete view of the city and its volcanoes.

16th day: Arequipa/Colca


COLCA CANYON EXCURSION:
Departure towards the Colca Valley at 11,483 ft. On the way you will cross the Aguada Blanca and Salinas National Reserve, with the highest population of Andean flora and fauna. The trip continues to Tojra wetlands. Later you will cross Patapampa, a plain above 15748 ft. where you will find the “Mirador de los andes”, a strategic point to see the Chila mountain range and its great amount of volcanoes: Mismi, Chucura, Huaracante, and far away the Ubinas, Misti, Chachani, Ampato, Sabancaya and Hualca Hualca. Arrival at Chivay town and transfer to the selected accommodation. After lunch, visit “La Calera” hotsprings located 2 miles away from Chivay, where you can take a relaxing bath.

17th day: Colca/Puno


COLCA - PUNO:

After breakfast, you will start the journey through the main towns of the valley until reaching Yanque, where you can rest or choose for a short walk (45 min.) along a path at the edge of the canyon. Then, departure towards "La Cruz del Condor", the best spot to observe the deepness of the canyon (11,155 ft) and also the place from where almost always is possible to see the majestic fly of the condor. On the way back visit some very interesting typical towns, pre-inca hanging tombs and terraces. Arrival at Chivay and lunch.
At appropriate time ride to Puno and transfer to selected hotel.

18th day: Puno


UROS AND TAQUILE ISLANDS (TITICACA LAKE):
After breakfast, you will take a two-hour motor boat excursion on the waters of Titicaca Lake to the unique Floating "Islands" of the Uros. These ancient inhabitants of the lake, known as the "Water Tribe", have built their own "islands" by periodically adding new layers of a type of reed unique to the area called "totora". Their homes and boats are also made from this material. After having experienced some of the ancient traditions of the local people, you continue your motor boat trip to Taquile Island. You will arrive by the back side of the island and start a hike to appreciate the wonderful natural sightseeing, after ascending through a regular pendant slope you will arrive at the town, there you will visit the Handicraft Center to buy a great variety of fine coloured hand made weaves.
At proper time transfer to Puno. Upon arrival transfer to selected hotel.

19th day: Puno/Cusco


At the appropriate time, reception in the Puno Hotel and transfer to the Bus Station.
Departure for an eight hours trip towards Cusco, the bus will stop in some interesting places to visit such as Raqchi Temple and some old Inca constructions. Marvellous scenery of landscape and typical animals like the "llama", "alpaca" will join you through this journey.

20th day: Cusco


CITY TOUR - NEIGHBORING RUINS - CHASKA SHOW:

City tour through the beautiful Cusco city and its nearby ruins. You will visit the Koricancha or Temple of the Sun, where you can appreciate the incredible masonry of the Incas, the Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral. Then you will be driven to the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman, to the underground cave and temple of Qenqo and to Tambomachay, known as the Baths of the Inca. Finally you will visit the Misminay Exhibit, Misminay is a native community of Cusco, there you will be able to appreciate their beautiful handcrafts. In the night, after your free afternoon, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a first level show at Garcilazo Theater; Chaska is the history behind the Peruvian man of the Andes.

21th day: Cusco/Sacred Valley


PISAC MARKET AND OLLANTAYTAMBO
:
Full day Sacred Valley excursion. 31 km (19 miles) far from Cusco is Pisac, at the entrance of the Sacred Valley . Visit the colorful market that on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays a craft fair takes place where you can buy beautiful handicrafts and sourvenirs. The lunch will be served in a local restaurant. The tour continues towards Ollantaytambo, an archaeological site that the Incas built as a fort and includes a temple, agricultural terraces, and an urban area. There are two distinct sectors: Araqama Ayllu, the religious and worship zone, and Qosqo Ayllu, the residential area. Ollantaytambo was an important administrative center with probable military functions due to the walls and towers. There are also traces of ancient roads and aqueducts. The town of Ollantaytambo is called a Living-Inca-Town, since the inhabitants maintain very old practices and customs.

22th day: Sacred Valley/Machu Picchu

MACHU PICCHU VISIT
:
Arrival by Vistadome class train to Machu Picchu ruins. From Aguas Calientes station you will be transported by bus to the top of the mountain and to citadel of Machu Picchu, one of the most renowned examples of Inca architecture. The city of Machu Picchu is the department of Cusco’s most important tourist attraction and one of the new 7 Wonders of the World. Discovered in 1911 by the American explorer, Hiram Bingham, this city is considered to be one of the most extraordinary examples of scenic architecture in the world, built at the top of a granite mountain. The Incas, using ingenious engineering techniques, were able to transport heavy stone blocks up the mountain side, and once there, they used their excellent masonry skills to produce amazingly polished stones that fit together perfectly. After a two hours guided visit in the ruins, you will have lunch at a restaurant of the area.

23th day: Machu Picchu/Cusco


SECOND DAY IN MACHU PICCHU
:
Entrance fee to visit Machu Picchu ruins or to climb the Huayna Picchu peak, the great mountain behind the citadel. The guide is not included.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
At the appointed time, you will return to the station to take your train ride to Ollantaytambo station at the Sacred Valley.
